Evening dress with jacket, 1950s
Curvy shapes and soft, rounded shoulders were the hallmarks of the New Look. It was created by the fashion designer Christian Dior in 1947. Skirts became longer and were either very narrow or very large and wide, like the crinolines of the 19th century.
A artificial silk rep halter-neck dress with a short train and a matching jacket. The bodice and jacket edge are embellished with beads and sequins. The dress was made by Gillemodeller, Stockholm, and purchased from ‘Chican’, a.k.a. Olga Hansson, in her store in Bantorget in Lund.
