Dress, 1970s

The 1970s were a turbulent time which saw the women’s movement, the green movement and left-wing political ideas gain ground.

The term fashion was often associated with the upper classes and capitalism, making it somewhat taboo in the liberal 1970s.

The folksy prints popularised by hippie culture, as well as Indian and other ethnic prints, were all the rage. A long dress could be worn as an everyday dress.

A bias cut, large-print cotton dress by Khadejha designs. The label states ‘small’. By this time, the small/medium/large sizing had arrived in Sweden.
