Coat, pelisse, about 1825

The thin cotton dresses that were popular during the Empire era necessitated properly warm outer garments. This coat is padded with silk wadding and was probably also used indoors when required.

The sleeves are very long, as it was considered desirable to have long arms at the time.

A pelisse-style coat in pale green silk rep. The coat is padded with silk wadding and trimmed with tabular wad-filled silk satin. It has a moss green silk lining with purple stripes.
