Jacket and skirt, 1780s
Here, the waist and hips are especially emphasised. Both the jacket and the skirt have been altered, perhaps several times. With costumes as expensive as this, alterations were made to reflect changing fashions. As we can see, recycling was common, even in the 18th century.
